Sometimes the best way to teach something is by giving an example of someone who has already done it. We as humans are motivated by pleasure and pain and it took the pain of a pressurised corporate job and not feeling fulfilled as a mother that drove Mandy Philpot to being her own boss.
Check out Mandy Philpot’s journey of working in an executive job of £32,000 a year to earning £3million a year selling Body Shop products at home parties. She has built up a team of 1000 women and was able to provide for her 2 sons in a way she never thought possible before. She enjoys 5 star holidays throughout the year and yet refuses to move out of her modest 4 bedroom home in Cheshire, England.
Mandy’s story is great inspiration for anyone to wanting to create a second income with a view to running their own business full time.
However for some of you her story may not be enough. I would have to be completely honest at this stage and I admire her commitment and drive 100%. I have been in Mandy’s position when I was in my old IT marketing job. However selling cosmetics and beauty products just wouldn’t interest me. I know because I tried selling Avon products at one point in my life and while I loved using the products, I wasn’t inspired to sell them.
The point I am driving home here is that you gotta sell products or services that you love! It’s not enough to be just interested in something, you got to love it inside out. That’s what lead me to starting my first business in Internet Marketing consultancy. It brought 2 areas together that I love, marketing and the internet. I’m sure that would also be Mandy Philpott’s idea of hell so it’s each to their own.
